Julien Gervreau’s sustainability career in the food and agriculture industries has spanned nearly 20 years. In his most recent role as Vice President of Sustainability at Jackson Family Wines, he spearheaded initiatives that resulted in over $29 million in cost savings and led the development of the company’s Rooted for Good: Roadmap to 2030 initiative, which engaged more than 100 internal and external stakeholders across the company’s value chain to plan and budget for a Net Zero future. Now, as a director of sustainability at SSF, Julien works with executive leadership teams to assess their ESG baselines and develop sustainability and climate action strategies with a focus on the tactical implementation of supporting a just transition to a zero-carbon economy.
Julien has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades for his work, including multiple EPA Green Power Leadership and California Green Medal Awards, and being named to Environmental Leader’s Environment + Energy Leader 100 and North Bay Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 lists. He has also been a featured speaker at events including MO Summit, Net Impact, Sustainable Brands, Environmental Leader, Global Climate Action Summit, and the Sustainable Agriculture Summit.
Julien holds an MBA in sustainable management from Presidio Graduate School, as well as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification through the Management and Strategy Institute that is focused on the intersection of sustainability and operational process improvement. He is also a founding board member of International Wineries for Climate Action, which is focused on decarbonizing the global wine industry.
